Unit 2
As an amateur cook I have used many different measuring tools, however I have not found a compact storable option. For this project I want to design a Multi-Size Measuring cup that is compact.
The measuring cup will be used for normal kitchen ingredients, will remain mostly inside and away from sunlight. Will not be exposed to high heat, or freezing temperatures.
This Gantt chart outlines my scheduled process for this project. I will continue updating as I learn more about the other assignments. A link to the full Gantt chart is located below
This is designs main focus is being compact and easy to transport. The overall design is a clear tube and a cylinder that is hollow. The hollow cylinder fits snug inside the tube. The user adjusts the cylinder to specified measurement to use. This design will also have a loop on the bottom to help clip to a bag.
This is designs main focus is being educational and easy to use. The overall design is the same as strategy 1 however, the measuring cup will be colorful to keep kids attention it will have the measurement extruded on the surface and printed on top of that to make it super easy to read. Also will slide easier for simpler uses.
This is designs main focus is being accurate and high quality. The overall design is the same as strategy 1 however, the measuring cup will have a sleeker design and more of a focus on the quality of the materials being used. It will have clear measure lines and a pour spout to prevent splashing.
Throughout this assignment I realzed that everything takes a much longer amount of time to complete than I think it will. This became a challenge for me because I had a hard time managing my time as the due date and time arrived. I also found out that I think in too specific terms. I want to visualize a product in detail, which is the opposite of what was asked. I kept having to stop myself and cut back in my planning.
